So, I got my post removed last time for god knows why. But I'm giving you guys one last chance.
LCID is a company that does not move enough volume to live forever. We are all aware of this. $80k+ (lower market) luxury cars are not going to move big units until you are a *late game* manufacturer. So as to say, "you do not hit the street with cred."
We are all aware of this. And we all think LCID isn't?
Rawlinson is out because his brain was too big to appreciate marketing and he over delivered on his product. That is one of them "good problems" to have in a CEO. Especially when you sell a product that is a *multi-year commitment.* That is hardly a terminal illness when every car enthusiast out there with two brain cells respects your product. Even less so when the Saudi's are comfortable pumping money into you.
The LCID Gravity is a new SUV that will probably move next to no units. The Air barely moves units despite being a cheaper lease than some corollas. We are all aware of this.
And yet, I have been driving an Air. Regularly. Daily. And I can't help but think sometimes when I see it alone in a parking lot, or get asked what it is, *this* is the Apple car. Clear as day, dumb as the thought feels.
The screens are elegant. The controls are perfect. The interior is sexy. And, the *base model,* the RWD, dude, this thing fucking *rips.* It's an EV, so duh, but it's so much more than that. The suspension is incredible. I feel like I could do surgery on a grape at 150 with this thing. And btw, I am not a naive car owner. I ride motorcycles primarily. This is a *boring ass looking luxury car* and it is the only thing that I might take over my BMW sportbike for a joyride - and it's also my *commute car*.
Tesla tesla tesla. BMW? Volvo? Who cares. I like the interior more. I like the ride more. I like how it looks more. The LCID brand is just cooler to me. The story of owning the car is cooler.
If you look into the engineering at LCID, they have designed two very specific components *very* well. The motor and the battery. As in, the LCID-Panasonic battery may be one of the most impressive industrial products *ever made.*
And here they are, shipping an RWD luxury monster for $550 a month. Nobody knows they exist. It's a peculiar thing you see here and there. Exclusively for money, but somehow both old money and new money.
Except it's not expensive - $570ish a month. That's half an M5, its nearest peer in my opinion. So, yes, they are losing money every time they put one out. Yes, they cannot do this forever. We are all aware of this. You think LCID isn't?
**They aren't planning to.**
Remember the motor and the battery? Both are *reusable designs.* Even moreso than engines. They can license those designs, make them for other companies, put them into different configured LCID vehicles. They are *valuable intellectual property,* and that battery is not even remotely a joke. And they are currently working on its successor.
*They make the most efficient EV. They make the best valued EV. They make the best driving EV.*
*And they cannot do it forever.*
**And you think they haven't known this for a decade now?**
Their batteries *and vehicles* will be made in the USA. They are confident their factories could roll 90,000 vehicles *a year* if needed. They currently sell barely 10,000 annually.
So, either they expect the Gravity to sell 8x the Air, they expect the Air to start overperforming, or...
#Duh, they're going to ship a consumer car.
With the best battery on the market and the most consistently reputed product in decades. It reviews *way* better than the Teslas did, especially the early ones.
Everyone whines about the software, for instance. I use it daily. It causes me no problems and has not bugged out on me. It has CarPlay. YAWN. Shortsighted, either way. You're worried about them not shipping software updates? Those Saudis are waiting for the Lucid consumer car. Duh. Duh Duh.
I mean, I can go on a rant about TSLA's rep in EU. I can go on a rant about how *fucking good my fucking car is.* Or, you can sniff a company worth betting on when you see one and not remove my post for putting blood in the water.
I mean, shit, even if they go tits up, this car is fucking *sweet* either way, dude. I didn't get scammed at the dealership if I lose money on my LCID. It is *comical* how good my ride is. I'm making a bet on a horse I want to win. And a horse that, for *years* has been "on the brink of bankruptcy," and yet here it is. Getting steady pumps from Saudis who know what "just getting started" can look like for a properly funded auto manufacturer. Love them or hate them, those motherfuckers are *obsessed* with cars. If they like LCID, take note.
#But no, the Gravity will barely move units, the Air will still be rare, and I'll keep buying at a discount while everyone says they'll never make another car again. The EV company with *the best* proven industrial foresight in the game doesn't know how the *car business* works?
And even so, either we're begging for TSLA to have a monopoly on the "TRUE EV GOAT" throne forever (never gonna happen on the international scale with China in the mix, also that's boomer mindset), or there's a legitimate competitor out there somewhere. And, in my opinion, I would take my RWD Lucid over a top-shelf S.
I just like it more. I like the car. I like the fucking car, guys. I'll eat my hat with a smile if they go under before their potentially game-changing ~$40k ride hits the market. I'll consider it the cosmos getting even with me for basically stealing a truly great American car off of them.
And regardless. Did we forget how Tesla happened? That company was run by a genuine lunatic, love him or hate him. Peter Rawlinson was a certified cool hand engineer. That's probably why they got rid of him!
