Alright, so we all know Trump’s tariffs are wreaking havoc on US and global markets. Apparently more tariffs are set to be announced on April 2nd, so this market downturn might be a big one.
I’ve been looking into stocks across the world, from Asia to Europe and the US. Some of these companies have really strong earnings growth, but that wasn’t my only concern in picking this portfolio. It was a combination of safe investments, potential growth stocks and stocks of companies that are rapidly expanding their market share and the leaders in these respective regions. They’re all good companies in the sense that they have strong businesses and high market share, or are about to get a ton of investment because of the geopolitical situation now. Some of them are banks in Asia, some are defense companies, and some are technology companies.
The Asian and European stock markets often present a fail safe during a US recession. But of course, this recession is different from the others. It’s purposely being caused using unnecessary tariffs. So it won’t be just the US affected. It’ll be all global markets. But I think one might just be able to skim through this potential recession with some gains, but the companies must provide great value, earnings growth is great but it can’t be sole the deciding factor because that alone won’t be enough to withstand the tariff pressure. Good companies with valuable businesses means they’ll like have more demand for their shares, and even earnings growth can’t pump the stock, if the business is important, the demand for shares will still be there.
