Holding period and cutting losses

Still learning and relatively new to investing, at what point does one cut losses on a stock and look for better opportunities. Let's say that I bought a stock and I trailed down 20-30 percent over the course of a couple weeks or months should I sell it? Or be patient and just attribute that to market volatility and uncertainties. I know especially at a time like this with all that's going on that it's important to not act on emotions and trust in my original thesis. Thanks for anyone that sees this and gives their opinions.
