Hey guys,
I have some cash that I am trying to figure out what to do with. I was initially thinking of diversifying it and putting it in stocks, bonds, high-yield savings account, etc. so I can get a better gain as my mortgage value decreases due to inflation. But with everything going on and major financial institutions potentially getting threatened under the current administration (what inspired this post were rumors that Elon was gonna go after the FDIC - which turned out to be false, but the probability of it happening is higher than what I’d like it to be), should I try to pay down my mortgage earlier as a way to protect my assets? Because I don’t want to have a significant holdings in a HYSA and then a bank run happens or having stocks followed by brokerages collapsing or something like that. Usually I would not be this dramatic, but there is no rhyme or reason in the current administration’s actions and figured I need a change in my strategy.
