Why micro-cap stocks like CITR often move before the market notices

One thing I’ve learned over time is that the most interesting opportunities in the market rarely start in large caps.

They start small.

Everyone follows companies like Apple or Tesla because they are already massive. Every quarterly report gets analyzed, every product announcement becomes global news, and every analyst has a price target.

Micro-cap companies operate in the opposite environment.

They usually have:

* little or no analyst coverage
* very limited media attention
* low institutional ownership
* niche business models that most investors never research

Because of that, the market around them is often less efficient.

When information spreads slowly, price discovery can also happen slowly. That’s why micro-caps sometimes move long before the wider market understands what is happening.

A good example of this structure is CitroTech (CITR).

CITR sits in the micro-cap category with a market cap roughly around the $100M-$150M range. That means it is still small enough to fly under the radar compared to large technology or industrial companies.

At the same time, it operates in an interesting niche - wildfire prevention and fire resistant materials. With wildfire damage increasing globally, that sector has been getting more attention from governments, insurers, and construction companies.

This combination is exactly what many micro-cap investors look for:

* a small company
* a niche but growing industry
* early stage commercialization
* very little Wall Street coverage

Of course micro-caps always come with higher volatility and risk, but that’s part of the asset class. The tradeoff is that early-stage companies sometimes have the largest growth potential if their technology or business model gains traction.

I’m curious how others here approach micro-cap stocks.

Do you see them mostly as trading opportunities, or do you actually hold some long term hoping they grow into mid-cap companies over time?
