What's next for precious metals - Why gold and silver will go to zero
A few days ago, I [predicted](https://www.reddit.com/r/investing/s/7Kw5eb4OMq) that gold and silver would crash and that people should sell out before the US dollar comes roaring again due to renewed faith in the administration.
Some people took my advice and made a lot of money, others got caught in the action and lost.
I noticed that there are a lot of people still seeking guidance on where gold and silver will probably go from here, and here is my take - gold and silver are going to zero.
Gold and silver could go to zero if they are fully demonetized and culturally forgotten, because their value is not intrinsic but social, as once governments and institutions stop treating them as money, their monetary premium disappears and they are reduced to commodities with declining demand.
If laws marginalize their ownership and institutions exit, liquidity collapses and gold and silver become financially irrelevant.
They will still physically exist, but no longer command meaningful exchange value, which is “zero” in real economic terms.
Already we have seen the Trump administration substantially pivot away from gold and into crypto, while the the crash on Friday signaled the end of the dedollarization trade based on renewed confidence in the American dollar.
When analysts realize that the American economy is doing much better than the low expectations set for it, the effects of dedollarization will sharply reverse and liquidity will exit precious metals and into crypto.
Overtime, gold and silver will lose their value as they lose their utility against safer and more modern assets such as Bitcoin which unlike precious metals, has the dedicated support of the government.
