Can’t do IRA or HSA. What do I do?

Hi all,

This year I planned on opening a HSA but found out I can’t as I don’t have the correct healthcare. My AGI in 2025 is going to be right at the IRA limit and I expect to make more in 2026. I think I’ll be over the limit in 2026 and have a rollover IRA so no backdoor option. I’ll max my 401k so trying to figure what else to focus on. I have a HYSA that now gets 3.3%. My mortgage is 4%. The way I look at it is if I made 5% in an investment, and then paid taxes on it, I’d be back to 4% profit. Why not just put it all towards my mortgage which is risk free? I owe $170k on the house and am on track to pay it off in 7 years which is 13-14 years early. I’m risk adverse and somewhat happy with my $350k 401k at this point. I’m 44 for reference. I also have $7.5k in an Ira I started in 2025 which I don’t think I’ll be able to add to for a while. Is focusing on the mortgage the way to go at this point?
