As per my title, I have been struggling and puling my hair trying to find a simple and scalable way to invest in interval funds (like Cliffwater's CCLFX, Blackstone BCRED, etc..) in the U.S..
It seems like you can only do so with a U.S. RIA, which has been a mission impossible, unless you have $5M+ in assets or more.
Through brokerages like Schwab or E\*TRADE, these interval funds are simply not available for non-U.S. investors.
I did extensive research and it just seems like I am missing something given that many of these interval funds are actually open to retail investors in the U.S.
So far, my only plausible solution seems to be the following:
\- open a U.S. private fund
\- use the Reg S exclusion that allows me to get non-U.S. investors (both accredited and non-accredted)
\- invest through an RIA that would accept me as a corporate client for my fund, especially if my AUM at the beginning would be $500K or so, as i start to scale and grow my fund with investors.
This would have the drawback that investors would need to file US taxes every year - a pain in the butt, i know, but it's the best i could come up with. I would happily offer to take care of this for my investors, as long as I could actually allow them to access interval funds.
Interested in hearing from you all to see if there is an easier way, or if anyone has successfully navigated this before.
Add on: I have also looked for third party platforms like Retool to see if they could make my journey smoother, but it seems like they are focused entirely on U.S. customers and investors.
