Opinions on Robinhood as an investment platform vs private bank investment accounts

I currently run my portfolio and trades through a self-directed investment account through my bank. I set it up that way when I was first getting started and I liked the idea of having most of my finances on one app. It was also directly connected to my checking account which made for quick transfers when I wanted to throw some extra cash on a stock.

Now that my portfolio has grown and I am becoming a bit more seasoned, I and considering moving everything to robinhood. Almost every picture I see of other’s portfolios is from robinhood and it seems pretty robust while remaining user-friendly.

The investment interface through the bank is extremely clunky. It only loads through a pop-up window, and closes every time I leave the app. It does not provide enough of information on the tearsheet, so I have to go in and out, reloading the page every time I am researching. There are also some stocks that are not available to purchase when I search for them (KRKNF).

The only thing I really love about it is that I own the stock. I may be misinformed, so I am looking for what the fine people of Reddit have to say about Robinhood. My understanding is that yes, robinhood is FDIC insured, but behind the screen, when you “buy” a stock, you are really just putting money into essentially a giant pool. When you “buy” a stock on the app, Robinhood purchases the stock and holds it for your account but it really belongs to robinhood.

What is the general consensus of Robinhood as a trading platform? Would it be worth transferring my portfolio? Additionally, are there any other secure, FDIC insured platforms that are generally liked?
