Does anyone else find that they're liable to get personally attached to particular investments?

I've noticed that there are certain stocks in my portfolio that I'm illogically attached to. These tend to be companies that are relatively tiny and obscure and I take some level of pride (warranted or not) in "discovering" them.

I don't necessarily believe that these companies will beat the market, and that's the main issue. The longer I've been investing, the more I've realized how tough it is to consistently outperform over a period of time.

I can't bring myself to sell them, though. I like the management, I like the businesses, and I believe these companies will grow and do well in their respective sectors. They've been good to me so far, but I'm just not confident that they'll actually outperform the market over a 10-20 year period.

What do you do in this case? Just a sell now? Set a target price for what I believe is fair value and stick to it? For context, these stocks make up about 25% of my portfolio with the rest being indices. Maybe cut that down?

I'm just curious to hear whether or not others struggle with this sort of mental block. I know that "the stock doesn't know I own it," and that any sort of emotional investing is probably not a good look, but it can be difficult to rectify my enjoyment of investing as a personal hobby and the massive implications that investing has for one's future.
