CORZ DD: to the moon this August?

Did a lot of research and hoping to share the DD so others can jump on this bandwagon and either confirm or stress test this research. Bought a call option on this and wish I bought more!

Our strategy intentionally ignored standard retail hype and instead focused on the structural convergence of a macroeconomic bottleneck, an invisible balance sheet transformation, and a massive behavioral blind spot on Wall Street.

1. The Macro "Shovel & Pickaxe" Bottleneck (The Power Shell Land Grab)

The Core Thesis: Instead of attempting to guess which specific artificial intelligence models or software applications (Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic) will win the market, we focused on the absolute physical bottleneck that all of them are legally and operationally required to buy: high-density data center real estate with massive power grid capacity.

The Opportunity: Big Tech hyperscalers are flooding the market with hundreds of billions in capital expenditures, but their biggest limitation is the physical power grid. High-voltage transformers and large-scale, liquid-cooled power shells take years to clear regulatory and utility approvals.

2. The Financial U-Turn Narrative (The Mispriced Asset)

The Asset Disconnect: Core Scientific possessed the exact pre-approved, gigawatt-scale electrical infrastructure the AI industry was desperate for. However, because they filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy during the 2022 crypto winter, Wall Street algorithms and institutional firms heavily mispriced and discarded them as a highly volatile, toxic cryptocurrency miner.

The Restructuring Reality: Upon emerging from bankruptcy in early 2024, CORZ entirely cleaned up its profile. They restructured their liabilities, aggressively optimized their balance sheet, and loaded up over $1 billion in liquidity by the time their Q1 earnings report dropped. They fundamentally transitioned their business model from speculative crypto mining to a highly stable, high-margin AI infrastructure landlord hosting enterprise tenants like CoreWeave.

3. Exploiting Institutional Inefficiency & The Short Squeeze

The Short Trap: Because of their bankruptcy background, a stubborn, legacy contingent of short sellers stayed heavily packed into the stock (holding short interest up near 28% of the float).

The Squeeze Catalyst: When CORZ officially began dropping massive multi-gigawatt hosting partnerships and raising multibillion-dollar project notes (like their $3.3 billion infrastructure raise), the narrative completely flipped. The short sellers found themselves fundamentally trapped—shorting a company they assumed was dead, only to realize it was sitting on the most valuable resource in the tech world. As the stock crossed your strike, those short positions were forced to buy back shares, programmatically fueling the upward breakout.
