I'm invested in NVDA and I'm having a really hard time understanding how the free market works in this scenario. The trump administration banned exports of NVDA H20 chips to china for security reasons. So I was wondering...
- Can NVDA open a factory in another country, like China as a private company or is it fully under government control?
- How is it fair that a company like Tesla can open factories in China?
- As a shareholder, if the US government can unilaterally ban sales for "security" reasons, shouldn't the government also be obliged to compensate the company for expected losses? (5.5 billion in this instance).
I'm just having a hard time understanding how it's allowed to directly shut down a business without any compensation. I'm not even from the US so it makes me extra salty.
