Hi. Ok, so given the shenanigans going on with the US's illustrious orange leader, and the people who surround him pulling (burning, cutting, defecating) on the strings of power, what is the general consensus on the medium to long term expectations.
The world knows that for the past god knows how long, the US has been a powerhouse for innovative companies, a location where excellence is rewarded and thus an attractor for great companies, ones that have largely driven tech development forward.
But things I feel (though might be wrong) have changed drastically in the past few months.
These companies that have driven this growth in the US, underpinning it's GDP and reputation as a world leader are now seeing some really difficult times.
I expect that there will be a good amount of brain drain, given that previously the US was seen as a great destination for driven minds from across the world. Now that immigration of any sorts is now hated upon, with a big drive to round up and ship off anyone even slightly out of line, including citizens, this attraction for clever peeps graduating from the world's top Uni's is disappearing fast.
In turn, innovative companies will have a harder time attracting bright minds to continue what was once one of the best places to grow a business.
Add to that the likes of China seeming to come out with some miraculous invention (sometimes copied sometimes not) every other week, are we now going to see this previous investment evaporate?
My thoughts are that whilst this mess might be relatively short lived, in that the current administration may just self destruct soon, the damage is done and the world will look to other places for something akin to what the US used to be. The trust is gone.
Whatever the outcome, it would be interesting to know what the consensus is from people as we all know the market is generally irrational in the short term, but in the long term, who knows.
In the scenario where investment is pulled and never comes back, what companies and markets are primed to explode?
